I think we see less of those woeful losses as KE navigates his first HC experience.
I certainly hope so. The thing is over the last 10+ years everytime we think the program is turning the corner we circle the same block.

The last 4 games have been awesome. Do we keep it rolling or do we poop out again? My hope is that we keep it rolling.

Either way, watching Mason play solid basketball in late February into March is something that we have all been waiting for over the last 10+ years, and I'm happy to finally see it. However things end up they end up, but I certainly have enjoyed what I am watching the last few games.

It keeps going I think. Mainly bc of the defensive effort. And Singleton is part of that but everyone, even Coop, have stepped up. Isn't Singleton from Brooklyn? Weird things happen when kids from Brooklyn, play big games in Brooklyn. Maybe he starts making shots and ft's??

Numbers don't lie and being top 3 in defense in A10 is gonna carry us a good ways. Hopefully the free throw issues are resolved too. Last time a Mason Coach asked his team to close their eyes, Lamar Butler opened them and said "...we going to the Final Four". I'll take 75% from the ft line for now. Actually, I'll take a FF too.

The difference to me that I can see is Hewitt and Paulsen became seemingly increasingly resigned to the mediocre and English has refused to allow his players to stay complacent. Even just that one question a few games ago about the Oduro foul “our players don’t flop. We take charges in the chest and it’s glorious. We don’t flop.” I can’t imagine he’s complacent with himself or his staff either.

I see CKE trying new things as well. I feel like after a while Hewitt and Paulsen just kind of refused to abandon their system. CKE is trying to figure out what works. It doesn't always work (Duquense) but he's at least trying. Might have just taken him this long to figure something out the way he wants it.

Agreed on both accounts. English is also trying to fix the "mindset" of the players and I think the program as a whole. When a program hasn't been winning its more than just "coaching" that needs to be built on. And yes, Paulsen did fix "some" basic things around this and raising the floor, but English is taking that and trying to take it up a lot of notches.

I just hope we see more good hoops because I'm just not ready to see things wrap up early in the A10 tournament.

Getting Ticket back has done a LOT to help.

Second on the getting Ticket back piece. This run is in big part due to the little things he does and how integral he is on both ends of the floor. We need to break out whatever we can to keep him one more year here. This might be the time to start up the MasonHoops NIL sponsorship payment, he is certainly deserving.

Might be reading too much into it but in his most recent twitter post Ticket refers to Wednesdays game as "the last home game of the year". Probably means nothing but better than him saying "my last home game".

Probably reading too much into it…

The staff is recruiting a big real hard for ‘23 already so it wouldn’t surprise me if Oduro has already decided to graduate and leave the program.

It also wouldn’t surprise me if Ticket has already decided to stay (unfinished business, senior season cut short) or if he’s at least still undecided.

I've always assumed Josh is gone. If Ticket is still undecided to me that's a good thing.

I'd assume that Josh (and probably Peter by some sort of default) are le gonzo and that's why we're recruiting another big.

I don't know. It's a small thing, but the Oduro parents seen to really enjoy their time at the games and even went to the GW game. They seem all in to me, and playing in front of family is huge for some so I'm hopeful, but what do I know.

While I certainly hope our streak continues, Kenpom has us #5 in defensive efficiency (Fordham and Richmond are #3 and #12 respectively) and #10 in offensive efficiency (Fordham and Richmond are #13 and #9). I'd like to hope we can play like we did against Dayton, but that's a very high standard to meet.

Considering Grant is a mediocre in game Coach, I doubt we play as well defensively vs Fordham. However, being that we have improved our turnovers, and our offense looks better, Fordham may not play as well defensively either. This game might come down to who has the better assistants. ;)

Can I just say that the front page is unintentionally hilarious right now. Thank you to whatever algorithm (or human) is responsible for it.

Edit: I see it's the first image of the thread ... still funny as hell.

Thanks, that's me. I've been missing the ol' JMU meme threads lately. Was looking for a funny Fordham-related pic, but it's slim pickings.
