GIVING DAY 2023
i plan on driving down early Friday am and watching both sessions.
Anyone else?

If it was like last year the AD sponsored either an in between mini-meal session or it was after the first GMU game.
Anyone remember exactly?

Men & Women's Tournament tix are buried on the GoMason website - but including the fees, it is cheaper just to buy walkup tix for the Women's Tournament

also - as you enter the Henrico Arena - walk down the right hand side Hall of Fame and you will see the references and photos of GMU's only National Championship -Soccer

GMU actually has 2 NCAA team championships: women's soccer (1985) and men's indoor track and field (1996) - https://www.ncaa.com/history/trackfield-indoor-men/d1

Hmm...getting a bit ahead of myself here, but assuming that Mason makes the semi-finals (starts at 1:30 and ends somewhere around 3:30), and the Gold room opens at 3 for the men's game with St. Louis, is there any contingency planning to telecast the women's game at EBA? Maybe even on the Jumbo screen!?

I don't think I can get CBSSN on my phone and also wouldn't be able to watch the women's game to its conclusion at home and still get to EBA for the opening tip of the men's game.

I think you're likely right, unfortunately.

I honestly don't know what costs might be incurred sending a tv feed to the EBA big screen. Pretty sure they've done that in the past---seem to remember seeing the women watching the women's selection show at EBA when they were about to find out their seeding and match-up for last year's NCAAs.

I'm guessing that, again assuming the women get as far as the A10 semis, Mason would set up a temporary screen in the JC Food Court like they did for Ilia Malinin in the Olympics. How much more could it cost to do that for EBA? Might even help sell a few more tickets to the SLU game as well as get more students, who get in free anyway, to come to that game. Essentially a doubleheader!

Alas, no mention of Mason or Za Walton:

i

Atlantic 10 Conference

Predicted champion: Richmond Spiders

Rhode Island was the A-10 front-runner most of the way, but preseason favorite Richmond beat the Rams by 26 points in the second-to-last game of the regular season. The Spiders are the league's best shooting team, have the best player in Maggie Doogan and will be playing the conference tournament in nearby Henrico, Virginia.

Player of the Year: Maggie Doogan, 6-2, senior, F, Richmond Spiders

Although her team hasn't been as good as a year ago, Doogan has been better than her 2025 A-10 Player of the Year campaign. She won the scoring title going away and finished in the conference's top five in seven major statistical categories. Not coincidentally, Doogan's career corresponded with the best four-year run in program history.

Beat them by 15 at EBA and 11 at Dayton (12K crowd, school kid promotion).

Key stat: Dayton had 25 turnovers in one game, 24 in the other.

ESPN links to each game:

Got here late
Missed Q1 and half of Q2 of Game 1
#1 URI vs #8 Loyola-Chicago

URI is bigger and faster but Loyola-Chicago is up 1 with 2 left in Q2

URI wins by 7. Too bad, but they are on the other side of the bracket anyway and still need to get by St. Joe/Davidson winner to advance to the finals.

So far in the tournament, the better seeds have all won.

Not rebounding. Giving up a lot of open shots and Dayton is shooting well.

We had a foul to give on the Flyers last possession but let them get an uncontested shot.

GMU down 6 at the half
A combination of poor shooting and a few defensive lapses

Harris leads GMU with 11
But #14/Dajpl is lighting us up from the 3
And their center, O'Riodan is all over the court offensively

One quarter left... Dayton up 8, 63-55. Mason has gotten it down to 5 numerous times but been unable to get the critical stop needed
