Four-star Recruit
Some here are acting as if Korys thumb was barely hanging on to his hand and he some how managed to not miss a game due to some duct tape attaching it to his hand. Im not buying that drama. I credit Kory tremendously for his toughness as a player. Having myself played with a fractured non shooting finger, and a sprained thumb joint, my guess is he has a ligament issue. I dont think a complete break occurred based on his usage of left hand. And he turned it over a few times last which I don't blame on the injury.
Pre-Injury (Before 2/7)
• FG%: 48.4%
• 3PT%: 43.3%
• FT%: 89.8%

Post-Injury (From 2/7 onward)
(Including the 2/7 game + all games after)
• FG%: 28.3% (34 / 120)
• 3PT%: 22.2% (12 / 54)
• FT%: 66.7% (6 / 9)

His injury clearly derailed our entire season. Recency bias is making us think he wasn't the most important player on the team. Hopefully, he wants to come back.

The injury to Kory certainly wasn't the only thing:
- The defense was being taken advantage of in the front court.
- Riley went from great to good in most games in the last quarter of the season.
- Never got that consistency from Fatt and Trout offensively.

But I think it was clearly the biggest thing. Teams no longer had to really press up on him and spacing really shrunk offensively. Good offense can turn into good defense, and we lacked the good offense part for weeks while he was adjusting.

Walk-On
I'm sure there are people here in the know, but it seems very quiet in comparison to previous years (at least to me). I'm not sure if that means we have fewer spots open (I.e. a larger returning class is expected), there's something up with Tony (I'm so happy GMac got the Cuse role), or the delayed start to the portal is having the desired effect (either truly, or things are being kept more hush hush than previous years).

TL;DR- The silence is killing me.

The Portal Report has only linked us to one recruit thus far, a 6'8 F named Marcus Kell, who seemed to be heading toward being a strong shooter two years ago, but fell off last year:

There probably won’t be any real movement until April

Eduardo Klafke hit transfer portal from OM. Sec was a slightly too big step for him but kid can shoot and is a hustler. Would love to see him in the green and gold. Also learned defense from chris beard so prolly fits the skinn mold too

This post may be slightly mixing two players.

Howard went to SFU (helluva acronym), shot 40% from 3 on about four attempts per game.

Marcus Kell went to Western Carolina, and shot 38% from 3 two years ago, on three attempts per game, but saw a dip last year to 29% on four attempts per game (was the secret out? Was he forcing?)

Can't speak to the quality of defense either played, but Howard had over 1 block per game (and I found an article on Kell where he said getting better on D was a priority, but the article was from his HS days).
