I mean they lost their 7th man and thats it and were 11-7 last year in A10 with an All Atlantic 10 2nd team player... we lost our second best player who barely played last year and were 5-13.... not quite making a bold statement here
If AJ plays to his potential, he’s one of the 5 best players in the A-10 and a dark horse for POY. There’s not another player in the league with his ability to step out and make the 3, score in the post, rebound and completely alter the game on defense. Now he’s up to 223 pounds and poised for a monster season. Weathers is terrific but he’s already hit his ceiling as a second-teamer IMHO
As with stocks, past results are not a guarantee of future performance. I know you won’t believe it until you see it, but this Mason team has a chance to be a lot better than people expect.
then lets do it this way because that is a very fair point 1. AJ 2. Weathers 3. Carry 4. Hughes 5. Javon 6. Miller 7. TDM 8. Austin 9. Norman 10. XJ 11. Boyd 12. Oduro
oh trust me I know that... watched Mason when people said they would be good... we all know that never happened in the weakest A10 since we joined
I think you sleep on Boyd as a 5th-year senior, but otherwise I can’t argue. It still doesn’t say they’re head and shoulders better, and doesn’t take into account that we have a junior and senior as our 7th and 8th men.
Also hard to say how much of a difference unbalanced scheduling will play, or what the schedule will even look like because of COVID
Yeah, Weathers plays the 4 for them, but Miller played Weathers pretty evenly if you're comparing the two. Weathers got those last buckets inside once AJ fouled out. Miller's stat line against Duquense: 19 pts, 11 rebounds Weathers: 16 pts, 10 rebounds Similar shooting percentages, too (9-12 for Miller; 5-11 for Weathers). The biggest difference in the game is Carry taking 15 FTs; Weathers taking 12. If Henry is a better inside defender than Mar, this game might have gone differently. I know you like to devalue every single player we have on the team outside of AJ, but Miller is going to be good this year.
dude Weathers was A-10 all conf second team... you're the one trying to judge people off of one game not me. Miller and Javon are great and XJ could be really good. you won't find me saying anything bad about one of those guys.
I mean if you are kind of agreeing with me it shows they have 3 of the 4 best players and we have the 3 worst. to me that is a lot of separation.
Well, let's put it this way: one, our second best player didn't play in our last game against them, two, Duquense let Mar score 10 points against them. Three, they had no answer for Miller. Oh, and a guy you aren't even rating (Hartwell) scored 12 points.
Jim's list of guys to use on each side.... I agree with Jim on that list too. take it up with him They also beat St Louis twice, Davidson, Bona and VCU plus all the cellar dwellers.
Circling around to an earlier point here, there is talent in JUCO. https://www.nwfraiders.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/bios/mason_anthony_kmzt Adjust his numbers to a per 40. He just committed to Florida International of all places today. 3 years of eligibility left.
Comment on Henry - there's no way that he is ready. I was hopeful from his initial highlights, but then I watched the game below. He's got the physical tools to develop nicely, but I wouldn't expect the type of skill development needed to have taken place yet.

This would help Goanar Mar whose waiver request was denied: Jeff Goodman @GoodmanHoops · 12m D-1 Council will vote on Dec. 16 whether all the transfers currently waiting or those who have been denied will have immediate eligibility this season, source told @Stadium . Quote Tweet Jeff Goodman @GoodmanHoops · Dec 8 Council Coordination Committee meeting tomorrow and likely to propose a vote for D-1 Council which would give all transfers (those denied or in limbo) immediate eligibility, source told @Stadium. They might as well...makes no sense that the Mitchell twins get a waiver and someone like Goanar doesn't.
